In 2006, Riverside was acquired by NRG Fleet Services headed by Sid Sadique, formerly Director of fleet and pre-treatment at Biffa Waste Services.

Significant investments are continuing to be made into the company´s vehicle fleet. New and improved vehicles are continually being added across the range which has resulted in an increase in spot rental and contract hire business. Equally as important, Riverside has also invested heavily in the recruitment of highly qualified vehicle technicians, along with fully-equipped service vans in each of its depots and additional locations.

In 2007, Riverside Truck Rental acquired Trio Hire, another of the well-established company in the Truck hire industry. Again, NRG invested heavily into the Trio fleet to reduce the age of the fleet and enable Trio to provide new, reliable vehicles in accordance with the company's policy. Trio was renamed Trio Truck Rental upon completion of the acquisition.

Riverside Truck Rental Ltd has gone from strength to strength as part of the NRG Fleet Services Group, having gained significant new contract hire business while retaining existing customers. Its growth has seen further development in its fleet with the introduction of vans, plant and specialist vehicles along with the traditional refuse, recycling, waste management and commercial vehicles supplied to public sector, blue chip waste management companies and logistics specialists throughout the UK.

The business has developed by demonstrating a thorough understanding of its customers operations, the vehicles they use and the unique demands placed on those vehicles in the provision of services. This had led to multiple Total Fleet Management contracts being awarded to the company involving fleet supply and maintenance, compliance control on a multi-site basis and also bespoke and one-stop hire desk facilities for individual clients.

Investments and upgrades in the IT systems for the benefit of customers in terms of information and compliance management have seen new web-based products launched in 2008. These include self-service access to vehicle information and compliance data, also a new system for maintenance contractors has been launched to allow service and inspections to be recorded electronically.

All customers now can benefit from electronic compliance pack including digital copies of: maintenance records, annual test certificate, plating certificate, LOLER and tachograph calibration certificates and maintenance histories.

This is a further example of how the group adapts to meet the ever-increasing needs of its customer base.

The NRG approach is to support the customer´s core activities. It has been proven that by working together, the combination of technical expertise, buying power and resources offer the best level of support to enable its customers to fulfill their demands.
